Neck

The neck is the most highly mobile and flexible region of the entire spine. It continues to work balancing and moving the head even when other areas of the spine are resting such as in a sitting position watching TV, reading, or riding in a vehicle. For this reason it suffers the most biomechanicial stress and becomes fixated and misaligned (subluxated) more than any other spinal region. The result is headaches, stiff neck, neck pain, etc. There are many other negative physiological effects in other areas of the body that can be caused by structural neck problems. Many nerves which originate in the neck control various functions in the head, arms, hands, and etc.

If you have almost any neck symptoms or cannot turn your head freely in all directions you probably would benefit by a chiropractic analysis and treatment. If the neck is kept mobile and flexible during the middle age years (35 to 55) then it is less likely to be an arthritic problem in the later years.
