Recognize that ALL people are sinners in the eyes of a perfect and holy God. That includes you.

"For ALL have sinned and come short of the glory of God." (Romans 3:23)

Recognize that sin carries a penalty.

"For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." (Romans 6:23)

Realize that your salvation is a gift of God; there is nothing we can do to EARN it; you appropriate it by simply believing and receiving it!!

"For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:" (Ephesians 2:8)

Realize and believe that Someone paid the penalty for your sin.

"For God so loved the world (YOU), that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever (YOU) believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." (John 3:16 )

Realize that Jesus Christ is the ONLY way of salvation.

"Jesus said to him, I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life: no man comes unto the Father, but by me." (John 14:6)

Tell others about your decision

"... if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you shall be saved. For with the heart man believes unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation." (Romans 10:9-10)

Realize that there is one God, and Jesus Christ is the ONLY mediator between mankind and God.

"For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, Christ Jesus; Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time." (1 Timothy 2:5-6)

PRAYER FOR SALVATION:

Dear Jesus:
Jesus, I believe that you are the Son of God and that you died on the cross for my sins. God, I know that I am a sinner and I want to accept the gift of salvation that You have provided. I ask you, Jesus, to come into my heart and cleanse me from all my sin; remove everything that is not pleasing to You. I ask you to forgive me for every shameful act, every hurtful word, every displeasing thought that I have had, just as You have said You would. Please come into my life and make me a new creation. Help me to live a new life and turn away from my old sinful ways. I ask you to change me into what you want me to be. I ask you to live in my heart and lead me each day in a life that is pleasing to you. I thank you, Father, for the mercy and grace You have shown me. In the name of Christ Jesus I pray.. amen.

What happens now?

"And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more." (John 8:11)

What happens when I do sin, I can't be perfect?

"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." (1 John 1:9)

Find a Bible-believing church and attend regularly.

"Let us not give up meeting together." (Hebrews 10:25)

Sunday School and Bible Study, along with church attendance and prayer, are key ways to grow spiritually. You've heard it said, "You are what you eat." That goes for your spiritual life, too. What you feed your spirit is what you are. Feed your spirit the things of God.
