"SUCCESS STORIES"

After my home page was on line for several monthes,I received an e-mail from Steiner Olsen in Norway. Apparently he was browsing on my home page and saw a name he recogonized on my pedigree chart. He sent me a e-mail and asked if I wanted the parents name for Anne Torkelsdatter. Being a true die hard genealogist, of course I was delighted to get such information. About one week later I not only received the parents name for Anne torkelsdatter, I received 13 additional generations. My very, very sincere gratitude to Steiner Olsen for not only obtaining the information, but being so gracious to share with me. On this 6th g.grandmother I now have back to early 13th century. I would like to see this page grow, as you contact others on the researcher page, please send me an e-mail message if you are able to connect and help each other in any way!

Dear Karen Redd

As you know from your query forum, Tami has done some research for both of my queries. Yesterday she had a breakthrough with my Albert Kangas query. Today I received a pleasant mail from her. I have taken some time with mailing between us. Together we (mostly Tami) found a lot of information. All of this information is new to my family. Thanks to your website, we have found informations about our ancestors.

Sincerely,

Arne

Karen,

Just a quick note to let you know that I got lucky! From your help, I have located living relatives in Norway, and they are even online! She has a family history back to the 1570's, and it is quite exciting stuff. Thank you for your help.

Thank you so much for the information. After all these years, I feel reborn by having this connection. My grandfather, Olaf came over from Norway in the 1920's and lived in New York until moving back to Norway in the 1970's. I only met him once when I was about 5 years old. By that time his first wife (my father's mother) has died and Olaf had remarried. My dad joined the Navy during WWII when he was 17 and never returned to New York except for the visit when I was 5 yrs. old.(1960) I do not think that Olaf ever talked much about his life in Norway or any relatives except for his mother Pauline Johansen and an uncle Henry who came from Norway and was a Lutheran Minister in New York. From other information I have gleaned, I found out that Olaf was only 2 years old when his father died. In a census from 1913, I show Pauline living Oslo, but there were no children listed. I wonder if she sent Olaf to live with relatives because she could not afford him after her husband died. This may be a mystery that is never solved........But I have hope because I never thought I would find to as much as I have.
Again, I thank you for all of your help.

Sincerely,

Karen Klingenberg Terry
