******************************************************************************************************************************************************Hi, Glad you found my web site. My name is Karen Redd. I live in southern Utah with my husband Dean, who is a retired telephone technician. We have 6 children, two boys and 4 girls. Four of my children live in Utah, one in Arizona and one in California. I tell (brag) about my family more on MY FAMILY button. I have many hobbies, and enjoy doing many things. I sew, do many kinds of hand work, which one of my newest is Brazillian Embrodery. I love to garden, paint, sing, I am a collector of depression glass, silver spoons, Coca Cola memorabillia, clocks, dolls, ect. I guess you could say I collect everything but money, and do most everything, but housework. However my great love (besides Dean) is genealogy. I have been doing genealogy off and on for over thirty years. I am just second generation being born in America, my mother being the first generation born over here. I have 3 grandparents born in Sweden, and one born in Norway. I'm glad you are visiting my site, and hope you find it not only interesting, but informative and useful to your Noregian search.
I am a convert and active member of the "Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter-Day Saints." Most often called Mormon"s. A very big part of our religion is doing genealogy work for our Kindred dead. We believe that one of the requirements in entering into the kingdom of God is through baptism. (John 3:5) Well what of the dead who had not a chance to be baptized or never had a chance to hear about Jesus Christ in their life time? It would not be a fair and just God that would refuse those people a chance to enter his kingdom. So he devised a plan, (1 Peter 4:6) where they are preached to in the spirit world. Now you might wonder, well they were not baptized, and it states clearly that unless we are baptized we can-not enter Gods Kingdom. A just and fair God had a answer for this also (1 Cor. 15:29) Now with our dead being taught the gospel and for those who accept, there is baptism for the dead by proxy. Now we must get the living descendants to have a desire to find out who their dead ancestors are. (Mal 4:6) The hearts of the fathers are turned to the children, and the hearts of the children are turned to their fathers. This prophecy is literally being fulfilled this day. However we must remember that our free agency is an eternal gift, so no one will ever be forced to accept the gospel. But now at least for those who chose to accept, there is way for them to receive all that the Father has promised. Never before has there been more interest in genealogy. Genealogy is the number one hobby through out the world. It is the spirit of Elijah working in our hearts and souls. I believe this with all my heart.
"It is vital in all cultural life to maintain a link between the present and the past. If there is anything that history makes clear it is this, that when a people becomes interested in its past life, seeks to acquire knowledge in order better to understand itself, it always experiences an awakening of new life." Ole Edvart Rølvaag , 1876-1931
I can be of no greater service to my fellow man, than try and help them in locating their ancestors. Wether it is a belief like mine, or just a fun hobby, it doesn’t matter. This is the second reason I have created a genealogy information and work site for Finnmark. To help those seeking information on their genealogy, and especially their Finnmark ancestors. I will endeavor to help you all I can and share all the information I have. I have census records and parish records of Finnmark. Mind you I am not an expert, nor am I a novice, but working together I’m sure we can help each other.
