Some Windows installations of the AOL or IE Browsers (Microsoft Internet Explorer) have problems displaying PDF (Portable Document Format) files.

Sometimes the problem can be resolved by downloading and installing the latest version of the Adobe Acrobat Reader ( Get Adobe Acrobat Reader ). After installation, You must restart your computer before the new version will work.

Solution I

• Step 1 – To get rid of old downloaded web pages, Start IE and delete temporary internet files

• Older versions of IE - click on Edit then Preferences then Delete Files

• New versions of IE - click on Tools then Internet Options then Delete Files

• Step 2 – Select one of the pdf file links to ARC Forms on the DVLA web site. If you get a blank page or an error message, exit out of the page and try again. Usually the pdf file will display on the second try. If this does not work go to Solution II.

Solution II

• Step 1 – Click on Preferences or Internet Options and disable the Adobe Acrobat Active X Control under a button labeled Manage Helper or Add-on files.

• Step 2 – Close out and restart IE and delete temporary internet files as outlined above and try to select one of the pdf file links again. If this does not work go to Solution III

Solution III

• Step 1 – With the mouse pointer pointed at the pdf link, click the right mouse button and select Save Target As...

• Step 2 – Start up the Adobe Acrobat Reader and open the file you just saved.
