Toastmasters International

Toastmasters International is the largest self-help speaking organization in the world and has helped more than two million men and women to become better speakers, listeners and leaders - professionally and in their personal lives.

The first club was formed in October 1924 when a group of men assembled by Dr. Ralph Smedley met in the basement of the Santa Ana, California YMCA to form a club "to afford practice and training in the art of public speaking and in presiding over meetings, and to promote sociability and good fellowship among its members." The group took the name "Toastmasters".

Over seventy-five years later, Toastmasters International has grown to over 180,000 members in more than 8,500 clubs, and now sponsors Toastmasters clubs in 65 countries around the world, holding annual Best Speaker in the World contests in several languages. Toastmaster Clubs exist everywhere and may even be found in correctional facilities, schools and mental institutions.

Toastmasters International, the undisputed world leader in public speaking training, has its headquarters in Mission Viejo, California.
