InfoWest Clean Proxy - FREE
Use of the Clean Proxy signifies your acceptance of the InfoWest Clean Internet Service Agreement.
How does the Clean Proxy service work?
Originally, proxy servers were designed to speed up internet connectivity by "caching" web pages that users go to locally, so that the user's ISP doesn't have to go to the internet to get pages that hadn't updated. This service acts as a proxy, but it does not cache pages. We watch all traffic coming through this proxy and block unwanted pages from passing to your computer.
Is this service the best choice for my family?
InfoWest offers the Clean Proxy content
filtering as an option so our customers can choose to use the service if they
have need of it in their home. This filter can be turned on an off at will by the customer, and only monitors basic web traffic. We offer a more comprehensive blocking service that monitors web, instant messaging, FTP, secure web pages and more. This optional fee-based service is called InfoWest Clean Internet. InfoWest Clean Internet cannot be turned off without contacting our office and requires no changes to your software settings.
Will this work in my business?
The basic filtering services that InfoWest Clean Proxy provides are suitable for business customers who want to keep their employees from getting to pornographic websites, but does not keep their employees from getting to other websites that may impact productivity. If you are looking for a full-featured solution, there is InfoWest Clean Internet.
Can I use this with a dialup connection?
This service works with any InfoWest service including DSL, wireless, T1 or dialup connections.
What else do I need to know?
If you do use this content filter, remember that that not only may some legitimate sites be accidentally blocked but some sites you might not consider appropriate will likely still be unfiltered. Our filtering services are no subsitute for time spent monitoring Internet activity.
