Sporting Events
Athletes as well as spectators will enjoy organized sporting events held throughout Color Country. Perhaps the best known running event is the annual St. George Marathon. Road races like the Bryce Canyon Rim Run and the Daily Spectrum 10K are shorter but just as picturesque.
The Utah Summer Games attract Utah's best athletes to Cedar City each June. The event, like a miniature Olympics, is a summer spectacular worth seeing. There are competitions in a wide range of sporting events including track and field, equestrian, bicycling, swimming, archery, gymnastics and more. Senior athletes showcase their talents every fall in St. George. The Huntsman Chemical World Senior Games bring thousands of senior competitors from around the world to participate in swimming, cycling, tennis, and golf to name a few.
Brian Head hosts several mountain bike races and festivals like the annual Brian Header. In winter, ski races are held at Brian Head and Elk Meadows. Every February snow lovers gather for the Bryce Canyon Winter Festival to enjoy cross country ski races, snowshoe tours and many more events.
