Welcome

Hi! This is Mr. Payne. I teach 4th grade at Sunset Elementary School in St. George, Utah.

I was born on January 20, 1959 in Los Angeles, California. I moved to Panguitch, Utah when I was about 7. Then moved to Santa Clara, Utah at 13.

I have taught school since 1986. I am married and have 5 boys. Marshall is 19, Monroe is 16, Marlin is 13, McKay is 8, and McLaren our youngest is 3 years old.

I enjoy sports, especially basketball. I play the piano and guitar, and like to compose my own music. I collect stamps and like goofing around on the computer too! I spent a couple of years in Hong Kong and Toronto Canada, as a missionary and can speak Cantonese.

Sunset Express
   On September 4 we will be performing at the Sunbowl at 7:30.  Students need to be there by 6:45
A bus will leave from Sunset at 6:20.

"Bearly Here" is a stuffed bear that has traveled through much of the United States, Canada, and even made a trip to Germany. He carries a backpack full of postcards, a journal to record his travels, and a camera or two. Bearly has stayed with truckers, businessmen, teachers, and has spent a lot of time at many different schools. Below is a list of some of the places that have been recorded in his journal since March 6, 1995. The 4th graders in Mr. Payne's 4th grade classes have had a good time following his travels.

May 1995 Wyoming, Iowa(a city in Iowa.) Onslow, Iowa-Wheatland, Iowa.

June 1995 Back to Sunset Elementary School at St. George, Utah.

August 1995 Glendale, Nevada-

September 1995 Southern California, Tustin, Santa Ana, Yorba Linda

October 1995 Disneyworld & Florida: Orlando, Deltona, Daytona Beach, Hialeah

November 1995 Minnesota,

December 1995 Kansas City, Phoenix, Arizona

January 1996 Back Home to St. George, Utah

March 1996 Timmins, Ontario Canada.(He made the front page of the newspaper and was on the evening news!)

April 1996 Kassel and other places in Germany

March 1997 Returned home to St. George, Utah.

April 1997 Sent to Texas

May 1997 Still in Hempstead Texas

June 1997 Returned to Sunset Elementary School in St. George, Utah

Nov 1997 Sent to Phoenix

Jan 1998 Sent to Phoenix again, Boise, Kansas City

Feb 1998 Went to the Olympics in Nagano Japan with the Supersteppers Drill Team.

March 2 1998 Returned home

April 2 1998 Made the front page of the "Spectrum" newspaper.

April 10, 1998 Left for Salt Lake City

April 28, 1998 Returned to St. George

May 10, 1998 Left for Richfield Utah.

June 5, 1998 Returned to St. George for the short summer vacation!

August 21, 1998 Off to Chicago, Tampa Bay Florida

November 16, 1998 Back to St. George

March 14, 1999 Off to Maine!

April 24, 1999 Visit to Ireland!  And we haven't seen him since!!!
