Published since 1991, TGS is an independent publication, serving to unite
the honest in heart who walk softly on Mother earth, obey God’s laws according to
the light given, respect each other as brothers and sisters and recognize all life
forms as unique and essential. The Gentle Survivalist provides a Creator-centered
nature forum for folks of all faiths who strive to remain faithful and balanced in
these increasingly difficult and trying times.
TGS MISSION: To provide encouragement, preparedness knowledge, hope and
sustainable living ideas for survivors of Western culture's modern materialistic
madness. To this end The Gentle Survivalist gathers inspired nature poetry, creative
writings, Native teaching stories, natural phenomena research, cultural understandings
and sustainABILITY resources that add balance, beauty and texture to our lives.
Gentle Survivalists have experienced traumatic events –
life-threatening accidents, illness, Near-death experiences, pain, grinding poverty,
sorrow, and all kinds of inner and outer damage that have served as catalysts for
spiritual awakening and inner growth. The uniqueness of these survivors derives from
their positive attitude. In their darkest hours they search for the smallest ray of
light and never fail to find it. Acknowledging God’s hand in all things, we know these
humbling experiences form an integral part of our earthly education, and we cherish
this eternal perspective. Born of suffering and experience, our faith is not naive,
but a sustaining reality and grounding wire in our lives.
HOLISTIC SURVIVAL: Having personally suffered through some of the great
purification which will soon befall the inhabitants of the earth, each minute, each
day, person, each animal, or potential life takes on a whole new light, to be
cherished and loved for the gift it is from God.
TGS respects and supports all efforts to throw material and emotional
ballast overboard; to live lives of sustainable simplicity, dedicated focus and
joy. We shun all forms of darkness, substances and media bombardment that would
pollute our inner natures and erode the spiritual progress we have achieved thus
far. Anything that is negative, destroys our will or focus must go. Anything that
supports and fortifies our faith must be embraced. We urge all people to forgive
others, shun the temptation to blame and get on with the business of spiritual
exploration. We urge all to climb out of their pits of self-pity and enjoy the
sunshine that a kind Heavenly Father showers on all. We urge everyone to stop
dumping their unhappiness, discomfort and pain on those around them and begin a
new life . . . a life filled with service, patience and forgiveness for the
little every day mistakes of others. Life is too short to wallow in this mire. We
urge all with ears to hear to stop pointing out the failings of others and look to
their own.
Eco-tourists: Gentle Survivalists have unbounded curiosity and an innate
love of cultures, people and natural wonders that many cannot comprehend. If we are
not traveling the world, climbing the mountains, walking the sandy edges of the world,
or visiting ruins and museums, we are reading about them in the National Geographic,
Smithsonian or other such publications and dreaming about the day we will. We
love the scriptures and the words of those He has inspired over the
centuries . . . His prophets, His teachers, His enlightened ones. With eyes to see and
ears to hear, only the honest in heart will survive the coming great purification foretold
by my Hopi Grandfather and other ancient writings. As spiritual and cultural explorers
we find interconnectedness between all great truths, among all people and in all places
our travels take us. We are not casual tourists, but eco-explorers of the heart and
spirit, destroying nothing and leaving only heart prints behind.
