I LOVE CREATING AND PUBLISHING THE GENTLE SURVIVALIST! All around me
I see and hear authorities on health, education, UFOs, Y2K, survival
preparedness, relationship counseling, economics, politics, etc., etc.,
and I’m glad I’m not the last word on these things. It must be very
stressful to write articles and books that must be as correct as possible,
both academically and politically. I see my work here at TGS as generalist
in nature. Most of my observations are works in progress, sort of
incomplete, but present and real observations. A little bit of truth is
more important, as it can be shared and utilized, than waiting until
I present a whole thesis in regard to that information.
There is a great freedom in not claiming to be “the” authority on any
one particular area of knowledge. I know it is important that there be
specialists and researchers, but I would rather see the present
interconnections between the various disciplines and understand how
those connections can benefit folks than focus solely on one area and
hoard the information until it can be “proven.” I would probably die of
boredom if I were limited to one field of technology or study.
When I graduated from the University of New Mexico I received a degree
in University Studies, which
included Economics, Jewish History Studies, Native American Studies,
Counseling, Anthropology, linguistics, sociology, Psychology, and other
interesting classes. I believe these classes prepared me to approach life
with more appreciation. Perhaps even my choice of such diverse classes
was a manifestation of a deeper pattern that I was already following, a
pattern that I was instructed to embrace when I was 12 years old. It was
given in the form of a confirmation blessing upon baptism, wherein I was
told to study all religions and find the truth that exists in all.
Gentle Survivalists are open to the truth wherever they may find it.
What’s important is that we embrace the truth and live it...not just
file it for future reference or as a token of our intellectual prowess.
If we live the truth we are given, then another truth will soon appear
for us to incorporate into our life. On the other hand, if we discover
a new truth and yet stubornly decide that we are not yet ready to embrace
it because of societal, peer or family pressure, it would be better had
we
never discovered it. The Gentle Survivalist newsletter is a buffet of
truth. Those who are ready will read one thing, those who are not ready
will read over it as if it were never there. The truth we are ready for
will burn in our hearts like a fire. To turn from the light of that fire
is a grave injustice to ourselves and others.
Our Heavenly Father wants us to have a sure foundation of faith and
that can only be attained by taking one step at a time. If, as many
occultists would have us believe, we can pay someone to take us from
step A to step Z and skip the hard work in between, they are
sadly mistaken. Those who have such weak foundations will, at some point,
find that they must retrace their steps and start all over again at point
A. Truth internalized and exemplified is the only truth we will will ever
have, even though we may be swimming in a sea of it. Many of the Flower
Children of the sixties, myself included, had to learn this one the hard
way. There is no easy way to climb the stairway to heaven, knowledge,
light, and truth.
Do I ever get discouraged with putting TGS newsletter out, year after
year? If my goal were to make a lot of money, I would have already thrown
in the towel and quit. No, I don’t get discouraged, because I constantly
receive letters from readers expressing gratitude, a kind word from
another reader in my e-mail, a picture of a Gentle Survivalist and their
family, or other tokens of love and appreciation. Money is not, and never
will be, the measure of success in my life. I receive far more back than
I give and I love my job!
