"The Gentle Survivalist Earth and Sky Writers." We apologize to unbelievers who fail to see God’s creative intelligence as manifested throughout nature and the great interconnected web of life. Most nature writers have personally experienced a profound sense of awe for the incredibly complex patterns that sustain life on Mother Earth. T.G.S. celebrates the mysteries of God’s hand, but not occult or pagan gaia worship. Content: Visitors to T.G.S. appreciate uplifting contributions that focus on Divinity in nature as an expression and witness of God's creativity throughout the vast universe. Dreary existential tomes that offer no hope beyond man’s limited capacity are not encouraged, while unique observations full of light, hope and inner reflection are. Naturally, not all great work can be printed online due to a limited amount of space. Themes: T.G.S. poems and creative writing content reflect life as it unfolds each season. Tropical and polar regions have little seasonal variation, but these themes will be classified as eternal summer or eternal winter. We have been publishing since June of 1991, but in 2003 decided to publish only online. Length: Poems or free verse should not exceed 33 lines in length. There are always exceptions, of course, for extraordinary poems. Emphasis at T.G.S. is on conveying clear visualization or painting with words. Writers should self-edit useless words that obscure and fail to convey imagery or feeling. Stories are limited to two pages. Editing: If creations are appropriate for publishing, but require edits, this service is included free. Redundancies, and words such as “the, and, it” and other lackluster words used needlessly, make creations less desirable. Edits are always returned first for approval. Hopefully, no hard feelings for the pruning of dead branches will occur. If edits are unacceptable, please do not resubmit them with arguments. Correspondence Requirements: The cost of returning mail to a large number of people is seriously expensive. If you wish poetry edited and returned, please include a self-addressed envelope and $5.00. Please affix correct postage. Send only 4 poems or 2 creative pieces and 2 poems. If submissions can be arranged neatly on one page, feel free to do so. The post office has very accurate scales, so please use them! Property Ownership: In submitting literary works to T.G.S. , ISSN # 1076-7029, one is agreeing to use of same on the website, or in future collections of "The Gentle Survivalist Earth and Sky Writers." Once published on T.G.S., works are copyrighted and remain author’s property. Sign and address all pages to ensure they can be identified. Writers are responsible, if necessary, to inform editors where their work has previously appeared and might appear again. Agreement: Sign and date this acceptance agreement and return with work to: Editor: Box 4004 St. George, UT 84770. Write checks for editing to: Laura Martin-Bühler. Written poems (4) can be edited for $5. This does not put them in competition for the poems of the year, but is simply a service offered for folks who want to submit them to literary publications. I do the editing as soon as possible. If we’re traveling or down in beautiful Mexico, it will take a bit longer to answer. If selected "Best of the Year," you will receive a two year link for readers to view. T.G.S. community was begun to support survivors of all kinds and their literary attempts to express their trials and triumphs in the light of God’s love and Mother Earth's manifestations. Thank you for your time, talent, sweat and tears. En paz y La Luz, Laura Martin-Bühler, Ed. Signature: Date: Print and Return with submissions. |
