Ginkgo Biloba
The Memory Herb

If one can’t remember the name of this important herb, then they probably are in need of it’s amazing beneficial powers. However, many folks have not heard of the plant before or have never been carefully informed of it’s amazing qualities.
The Ginkgo tree has been around since the days of the dinosaurs. In fact, it is the oldest living plant, dating from the Paleozoic era. This plant must have a good memory itself, to have correctly replicated itself all the millennia. Individual trees can grow to 1,000+ years of age. Currently, these hardy ornamental trees can be found lining city sidewalks and roads in temperate areas of the world, although their home of origin is China. The Chinese have traditionally used it’s wood for carving and the nuts from the female Ginkgo for toasted treats which are also medicinal.
The main part of the tree that is used for medicine is the bi-lobed leaf for which the tree is named. The leaf itself is unusual in that the veins start at the base of the leaf and run parallel to the other end. The leaf and extract, according to European pharmacologists, has the programmed ability to stimulate not only bodily blood circulation, but reaches to the even more difficult inner cranial areas, stimulating the smallest capillaries, which in turn oxygenate and feed the neurological processes.
This is great news for those of us who have trouble concentrating long enough to accomplish difficult mental tasks or even for those of us who can’t remember where we put the car keys or our wallet. For years, folks have used the excuse of age for becoming forgetful and confused, but with Ginkgo available to all at the nearest health food store, there’s no excuse for falling into decrepitude.
Other results of it’s all-over stimulating effect are increased immune system response, fewer heart attacks and strokes, decreased dizziness, better hearing, the prevention of visual deterioration, and for men, less impotence. The scriptures state that the life is in the blood . . . (the physical life). If there is a decreased flow of blood to any part of our body, that part will wither and die. We need the life giving oxygen and nutrients that blood carries to function efficiently.
Our Heavenly Father understands the problems of disease and aging and has not left us without help. He has given us herbs to be used with thanksgiving and wisdom to alleviate and cure every problem known to mankind.
Gingko has no known side effects . . . just blessings. Other long-recognized memory boosters such as cayenne and Gotu kola are often added to Ginkgo formulas for increased effectiveness. See your nutritional counselor for advice on getting a jump start on life! As your friend and editor, I wouldn’t promote this herb if I didn’t believe in it myself. In fact, Ginkgo is greatly enlivening my thought processes— even as I write about it!
