Dinosaur National Monument

Welcome to Dinosaur National Monument

Located 20 miles east of Vernal, near Jensen, Utah, is the legacy of rivers, past and present. Here, preserved in the sandbar of an ancient river is a time capsule from the world of dinosaurs: the fossil bone deposit that gives the park its name. The Dinosaur Quarry has revealed many secrets of the past, but the remote and rugged land around it, created by today's rivers, is a secret of the present, known to few travelers.

At the Dinosaur Quarry, the fossilized remains of over 2,000 bones can be viewed, relieved in the 200 foot-long wall as a permanent exhibit. Exhibits and displays help explain the life and times of the creatures entombed in the Quarry. The Monument is open daily, and a variety of trails, tours and activities are available to help in experiencing the Monument's geology, history, wildlife and scenic beauty. Discover the overwhelming silence and dramatic beauty of the park's canyon country at Harper's Corner, inEcho Park or along Jones Creek. Experience exciting whitewater rafting trips on the Green and Yampa Rivers. Campgrounds are located near the Quarry at Split Mountain and Green River. There are other primitive sites also located in the Monument. Hours: Summer 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Winter 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Entrance and campground fees are collected.
