CastleNET External Modem
| The CastleNET external modems require a NIC (network card)
in your computer, or a USB port. An Ethernet cable or USB cable
connects the external modem and your computer. |
We give you the modems already fully configured. Just plug in the modem and it should begin working.
The CastleNET modem, when connected to a DSL line, is assigned its IP address from our servers. Your computer should be be set to obtain an IP address automatically. The CastleNET will give your computer an IP address and all other necessary information including DNS server information.
CastleNET External DSL modems can share their Internet connection and integrate into an existing network. This requires the use of a Hub. The Ethernet cable from your CastleNET external DSL modem will plug into the "uplink" port on the hub. Each of your computers can plug into the other ports on the hub. Your DSL modem will receive an IP address when it has completed its connection to our system across the DSL line. In turn, the DSL modem can assign (DHCP) a private IP address to each of the computer connected to the hub. This use of NAT, Network Address Translation, will provide security.
