Outlook Express disconnects me each time I check my email. How can I fix that?

First, open Outlook Express, then follow these steps:

Note: Steps 1 through 7 will check to make sure Outlook Express is not trying to dial another connection:

  1. Click on Tools, then click Accounts
  2. Click on the Mail tab
  3. Highlight the InfoWest account, and click the Properties button
  4. Click on the Connection tab
  5. Make sure the "Always connect to this account using..." box is NOT checked, and click OK

Note: If you are using Outlook, or a version of Outlook Express older than version 5, you will need to set the option in the Connection tab to read, "Connect using Internet Explorer's or a 3rd party dialer."

  1. Repeat steps 3 through 5 for any other mail accounts you have set up in Outlook or Outlook Express
  2. Once this is done, click the Close button

Note: Steps 8 through 10 will check to make sure that Outlook Express isn't intentionally disconnecting you:

  1. Now click on Tools, then click Options
  2. Click on the Connection tab
  3. Make sure the "Hang up after sending and receiving" box is NOT checked, and click OK
