Document Actions

These steps will work for Windows 95, 98, ME, 2000, and XP:

  1. Click Start - Settings - Control Panel (for XP, just click Start - Control Panel)
  2. Double-click Internet Options (in XP, you may need to click on "Network and Internet Connections" first)
  3. Click on the "Connections" tab near the top
  4. Highlight the InfoWest conection (click on it once)
  5. About 2/3 of the way down, make sure "Always dial my default connection" is marked.
  6. Make sure the InfoWest connection has "(default)" written next to it.
  7. If not, click the "Set Default" button (InfoWest must already be highlighted).
  8. Click the Settings button.
  9. Make sure none of the boxes in this window are checked.
  10. Click the Advanced button below Properties (if you are using Windows ME or have installed our custom dialer, the advanced button will not appear or may be greyed out).
  11. Make sure "Disconnect if idle for ___ minutes" is not checked.
  12. The "Disconnect if connection may no longer be needed" may be checked or at your discretion (this option will bring up a box asking if you want to "Disconnect Now" or "Stay Connected" only after you have completely closed all windows of Internet Explorer and Outlook Express.
  13. Click OK, then click OK again.
  14. Click OK to close Internet Options, then close the Control Panel.

NOTE: If you are using our custom dialer, you can access the Advanced options mentioned above, by double-clicking the dialer on your dekstop, clicking the Properties button, and then clicking on the "Options" tab.

If you are using Windows ME, you can access the Advanced options by clicking Start - Settings - Dial-up Networking, and then by right-clicking on the InfoWest connection, clicking Properties, and then click on the "Dialing" tab.
